I’m not sure it’s ever been the year of the Linux Desktop but it definitely provides an alternative to the mainstream offerings. If all you do is manage emails, browse the web, shop online and the like I’d heartily recommend giving it a go.
Why bother you ask; quite rightly so. Why spend the time installing a new operating system when what I have is doing an okay job. Well, besides the cost of the mainstream offerings, there’s security, ease of use and performance, especially if you don’t have the latest spec machines.
